Unidentified African woman - Amsterdam - 19-07-2001
Exclusively through our foundation, a 500,000 Naira reward will be given to the first person who provides the tip leading to her identity.
On July 19, 2001, an unconscious woman was found near the 'Groeneveen' apartment complex in the Bijlmermeer area of Amsterdam. She was taken to the AMC hospital, where she died on August 17 from brain damage. The cause of this injury was unclear, despite the autopsy and further investigation. The woman had no identification documents, and the Dutch police had to find another way to identify her.
The investigation revealed that she might have been named Philo Omoruyi and that she could have come from the Nigerian city of Benin City. If the information is correct, she would have been around 36 years old and born around 1965. Perhaps the name Philo was short for Philomena(?).
The Dutch authorities attempted to cooperate with Nigerian authorities. For instance, the woman's DNA was shared so it could be compared with potential relatives or other databases. However, as far as is known, the Nigerian authorities have not taken any action in the case.
Below is a description of the woman.
